This policy describes how McCullough Development, Inc., doing business as DigiRune Studios ("DigiRune Studios," "we," "us," or "our"), handles information across this website and our companion applications. Individual apps may include their own supplemental privacy details at the point of download.
Who We Are
DigiRune Studios is a division of McCullough Development, Inc., a South Carolina corporation based in Beaufort, South Carolina, United States. We build official companion applications for indie tabletop and role-playing game publishers, along with freestanding tools for the broader tabletop community.
Information We Collect
We aim to collect as little as possible. Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:
- Contact information you provide. If you email or call us, we receive the details you choose to share — such as your name, email address, phone number, and the contents of your message — so we can respond.
- Information stored on your own device. Several of our applications save your preferences and content (for example, favorites, settings, or character data) locally on your device. This information stays on your device and is not transmitted to us unless a specific feature states otherwise.
- Account & sync information (only if you choose to sign in). Some of our applications offer an optional sign-in — using your existing Google or Apple account — so your saved preferences and content can sync across your devices. If you opt in, we receive a basic account identifier (such as your email address and a unique user ID) and store the preferences you choose to sync. Sign-in is entirely optional: if you don’t sign in, the app works fully and your data stays on your device.
- Images or documents you submit for a feature. Some of our applications let you photograph or upload a page — such as a game character sheet — so the app can read the text on it and turn it into editable content. When you use such a feature, the image is sent over a secure connection to a processing service to extract its text; we do not permanently store these images on our servers, and the app does not keep the original after extraction — only the structured data it produces.
- Limited technical data. Our website is hosted as static pages and does not set tracking cookies. Standard server logs maintained by our hosting and infrastructure providers may record basic technical information such as IP address and browser type for security and reliability.
How We Use Information
- To respond to your inquiries and communicate with you about a potential or active project.
- To provide, maintain, and improve our website and applications.
- To perform features you actively request — such as extracting the text from an image you submit so it can become editable content.
- To protect the security and integrity of our services.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Payments
Our applications are distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play. When you purchase an app, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple or Google under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
Third-Party Services
We rely on a small number of trusted providers to operate our services: static web hosting for this site; Apple and Google for app distribution and purchases; Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) to provide optional cross-device sign-in and synchronization in applications that offer it; and certain optional in-app features, such as on-demand translation, that may send the text you choose to translate to a third-party service only when you actively use that feature. In applications that offer image-to-text or similar AI-assisted features, we use an AI processing provider (Anthropic, maker of the Claude models), relayed through a secure server we operate (Cloudflare), which receives only the content you submit for that feature and returns the extracted result. Under Anthropic’s commercial API terms, content sent through the API is not used to train its models and is automatically deleted after a short retention period. Each provider processes information under its own privacy policy.
Data Retention
We keep correspondence and contact information only as long as needed to address your request and to maintain reasonable business records, after which it is deleted or archived. Information stored locally within an app remains under your control and can be cleared from your device at any time. If you use optional sign-in to sync data across devices, that information is retained while your account remains active; you can clear it or delete your account at any time from within the app or by contacting us, after which the synced data is removed.
Children's Privacy
Our website and applications are intended for a general audience and are not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
Your Choices and Rights
You may contact us at any time to ask what information we hold about you, to request a correction, or to request deletion of information you have shared with us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws, and we will honor those rights as required.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above.
